Love is a verb

August 2014

In Bob Goff’s book, Love Does, there is a quote that has always impacted me…

“Living a life fully engaged and full of whimsy and the kind of things that love does is something most people plan to do, but along the way they just kind of forget. Their dreams become one of those “we’ll go there next time” deferrals. The sad thing is, for many there is no “next time” because passing on the chance to cross over is an overall attitude toward life rather than a single decision.”

This past weekend the CARE for AIDS team was honored to be part of an event that exemplifies the “whimsy and kind of things that love does”. A friend of the team, Jared Faellaci, hosted a thank you event called the Starbucks Summer Barista Bash at the West Village Starbucks to honor the baristas who serve their community every day. The main goal of the event was to gather the community to celebrate the baristas at this particular store, but another goal was to raise funds for three charities- CARE for AIDS, World Orphans, and Clothe Your Neighbor as Yourself.

We were honored to be one of the benefiting charities, and the whole team was happy to experience the joy that the event brought to the baristas and the entire community.

We want to thank the team that organized the event (pictured below) and we want to send a huge thank you to Jared for inviting us to participate.

How can you show love this week through presence, whimsy, and doing the things that love does?
