This past Thursday our Furman chapter of CFAU hosted its first annual kick-off event,100k! While we had no idea what to expect, we were amazed when college students came pouring in as the doors opened at seven. Within 15 minutes almost every chair in the room was filled and by the end of the night nearly 60 new students had signed up to be a part of CARE for AIDS at Furman University.
Over the next month, each of our chapters will be hosting a kick-off similar to this event to recruit student Ambassadors. These Ambassadors are challenged to raise $150, enough to provide 500 meals for families in Kenya that are struggling to regain their health as they battle HIV/AIDS. Students who reach or exceed their goal will get to participate in our final event, Im(pack)t, where they will have the opportunity to personally pack 100,000 meals for our clients.
At the end of this semester, nearly 750,000 meals will be packed and sent to Kenya between the support of our three student chapters and a donation from Feeding Children Everywhere.
We are so excited to see what happens over the next 60 days at Furman. Thursday night was a huge reminder of God’s faithfulness. We are so grateful for college students and their willingness to serve thousands of men and women whom they have never met and probably never will personally. It is this faith and compassion that makes what we do possible. We can do small things with great love and see the impossible happen- lives truly transformed for our brothers and sisters in Kenya.
THANK YOU and WELCOME to all of our new Ambassadors at Furman University! We are proud to have you as a part of our team!
